To work as a nurse in Ireland, there are a few basic requirements:

  • For Midwifery Nurse: The nurse must have an MSc. Degree in Midwifery
  • For Psychiatry Nurse: The nurse must have an MSc. Degree in Psychiatry
  • For General Nurse: The nurse must have a  Diploma or a B.Sc in Nursing

Nurse must possess a current nursing license in her home country.

Nurse must be currently employed

► Nurse must have at least one year of continuous experience in a particular speciality

► Nurse must have attempted one of the three following tests administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS):

Benefits

1. Remuneration

Remuneration following full NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)

The approved salary scale (as of 01/06/2022) for your post is € 28,757  – 42,275

Long Service Increment (payable after three years on max. of scale with Public Services) around €42,000.

2. Airfare

The Public Services will pay your airfare from your Country of origin to Ireland. Subject

to you complying fully with all contractual obligations, the Public Services will pay

your return airfare from Ireland following the completion of this contract.

3. Accommodation

The Public Services will pay for your accommodation for the first six weeks of your stay in

Ireland, but in private healthcare sectors, will differ on the accommodation provisions; you will be expected to get subsidised accommodation.

4. Required Hours of Attendance

The standard weekly hours of attendance for your grade are 39 hours per week. Your regular weekly working hours are 39 hours. Contracted hours, which are less than the standard weekly working hours for your grade, will be paid pro rata to the full-time equivalent.

5. Annual Leave

Annual leave and public holidays are granted following the provisions of the Organisation of Working  Time  Act 1997. The annual leave entitlement for your grade, based on the standard hours of attendance, for days per completed year of service is as follows:

0-5 years – 24 days

5-10 years – 25 days

More than ten years – 27 days

6. Superannuating / Pension

You will be covered by the terms of the Local Government Superannuation Scheme – New EntrantOfficers for the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2004.

7. Sick Leave

You are covered by the Public Services sick leave scheme, applicable to your grade, details

available on request.

8. Family Visa – You can invite your family to Ireland once you complete your Training.
